Lyric is a 5.5 Meter Olympic-class sailboat, built in Norway by Bjarne Aas in 1965. She was donated to The Apprenticeshop in 2007; Apprentices and instructors have raced her at WoodenBoat's classic Eggemoggin Reach Regatta each summer since 2009. She took second of 20 in her class in both 2009 and 2011.
She's currently in the 'Shop for a full restoration — We'll be replacing the entire Mahogany laminated backbone, all of the steam-bent ash frames, about 60% of her mahogany planking, and the entire spruce and plywood deck structure. We'll be returning her to original 1965 styling as much as possible; leaving off the house and keeping her lean and mean, as you can see in some of these pictures.
This webcam hopes to show the progress of the restoration; we started in January and are scheduled to finish in June. Images should update approximately every 10 minutes.
